My current role is that of Chief Telecoms Analyst. This encompasses several key responsibilities:- Overseeing the Telecoms research agenda. This consists both of an annual planning exercise, which results in a client-facing document (see here for the current version) and an ongoing rolling process, which drives the detailed quarter-to-quarter content schedule. This entails working closely with practice leaders and other managers in the business, signing off on plans, and providing thought leadership around major topics the group should be covering. In some cases, it has required me to drive large cross-practice research projects, such as Ovum's Telecoms in 2020 series.
- Designing, implementing and running a process to ensure quality and consistency in the telecoms research content we provide to clients. I designed a process in early 2010 which was subsequently implemented in the second half of the year and has been running since. The process has already led to a significant and measurable improvement in quality, and is now being adopted across other business units within our parent company.
- Working closely with clients and prospects, especially in North America, to demonstrate the value of Ovum's research, help win syndicated research and consulting business, in partnership with sales teams. Also overseeing efforts to drive marketing and brand promotion in North America with carriers, vendors and other prospective and current clients.
