You can continue to use the links above to dive deeper into the various sections of my résumé if you wish. This section deals with the skills that I have built up in my past work and that I would offer to any prospective employer.

The main skills I believe I would bring to any role are:

  • Expertise in telecoms, both enterprise and consumer, including services, technology, regulation and related topics. My over seven years of experience working as a telecom analyst has given me broad and deep expertise across the industry which I would be able to apply in any future role.
  • Presentation skills, both in delivering presentations and workshops to clients and in delivering internal presentations. I present clearly, authoritatively and confidently and consistently receive high marks in formal feedback from those attending.
  • Writing skills, developed both before and during my roles as an analyst. I write clearly, concisely and directly, as well as quickly, and am able to adapt my writing style to suit my audience, whether experienced in telecoms and technology or relatively unfamiliar with these topics.
  • Interpersonal skills, working effectively with others, able to empathise with those I work with and adapt my style of interaction to suit their needs.
  • People management, developed during several roles before and during my time as an analyst. I have demonstrated an ability to manage employees’ performance as well as resolving difficult problems and reaching successful resolutions.
  • Operational management, having managed several entities during my working career, achieving strong financial performance, delivery on time and to budget, reducing costs and driving revenue growth.
  • Sales and client facing skills, developed through my extensive work with clients and potential clients, both in sales meetings and in an advisory capacity.
  • Research and analysis - in face-to-face, telephone, Internet and survey settings. Digging out the right information from multiple sources as well as analysing the information gathered in such a way as to make sense of it and draw useful and actionable conclusions from it.
  • Press and media skills. I have worked regularly with the press both in Europe and North America, providing regular comments for articles on industry topics, and have been effective in promoting myself and my employer through these efforts. I also have significant experience in working with television, both live and pre-recorded, and feel comfortable presenting myself and my company in those settings.
  • Language skills - I speak English as a first language, German fluently, Spanish and French reasonably comfortably, and also retain a rusty version of Sinhala (a language spoken mostly in Sri Lanka).
